"Salome"

is the embodiment of eros and thanatos, an orgasmic metaphor through which the unspeakable erupts in a brief and devastating triumph.
Oscar Wilde's famous play interpreted by Shakti in her unique way.

Salome and John the Baptist symbolize the union of the 2 opposite forces of nature-
the attraction and the rejection
resulting in death as the final merger.

The dance piece is divided into 3 parts:

* Eros
Salome's desire and love of Jokanaan
(John the Baptist).

* Insanity
Salome's dance embracing the head of John the Baptist.

* Thanatos
Salome's dance of the 7 veils symbolizing the 7 streams of life and its transient passage culminating in the embrace of death as the final union with John the Baptist.

Salome has received rave reviews in all places which it has been performed:
Tokyo , Avignon , Montreal , India , New York , Edinburgh, Adelaide.

"Shakti's lush presence creates an ideal Salome."
(New York Times)

"No other dancer can be so perfect for this part."
(Tokyo Press)

“Danse sensual!” (La Marseillaise)

From desire to insanity culminating in the dance of the
7 veils, this show is -

“a wild dance experience not to be missed!.”
