RASHOMON

 

Based on the novel by Ryunosuke Akutagawa

Rashomon depicts a passionate search for truth and the battle between Desire and the Spirit.

Performed in Kyoto Tofukuji Temple as part of the 1200th anniversary of the Heian Era.
It was then performed in the Yushima Seido Temple in Tokyo in a wild and stormy night. (DVD available) The noise in the recording is of the actual downpour.

It was also performed in Edinburgh where it won the "Spirit of the Fringe" award and then was taken to London Pleasance Theatre. Later it toured to Kiev, Ukraine, which is a sister city of Kyoto.
