Dear Friends:

November has arrived.
My monthly messages should be now termed seasonal messages. But don't give up on me for I will try my best to keep writing.
So much has been going on.  I cannot complain of a boring life.  Our apartment in Pennington Terrace, North Adelaide has been filling up fast with computers, cables and costumes.

It was really time to move.

And good news is that our house in Gumeracha is progressing.
It took over one year to get the Adelaide Hills Council's building approval but we finally got it and have started.
It is being built by Taipan Constructions.

November 4th was an important day because it was the day that the base of the house was to be set.  We were there at 7am and so was
everyone else.
We had 12 concrete trucks come in one after another to pour the concrete over the base.

Our land filled up fast with trucks and containers of all sorts.
It was quite a job.
One at the pump, one handling the hose, 2 to spread out the concrete, and 2 to even it out.  Everyone worked smoothly and quickly for it all had to be done before the concrete hardened.  It was like a dance choreography.  (You need strong legs and hips and back.)
Even though technology may be taking over, things like this was still done by hand. Quite impressive.

Below is the foundation of the house. The red pipes are for floor heating which will be by hot water.

Just one man poured the concrete. 12 truck loads of it too. Others waited in place for their turn to their work. Then 2 evened and spread out the concrete with a broom like thing.
And the 2 smoothed it out with a long square pole making sure the floor was even. And then finally one went over it again to make it perfect.

You can see that strong legs and hips are essential.

By the end of the afternoon, the base was finished.

I was tempted to leave it like this and make it into a stage!

Looks great, doesn't it?
