Festival d'Avignon 2011 Our Team
Dear Friends:

Avignon Festival was a wonderful success.  We had great programmes in our theatre and good audience too.
Jorg & I were the first to arrive on July 10. Reiko arrived that night, Pete & Meg arrived the following day and then we started setting up the theatre.
And in no time, the white conference room became a black lovely studio theatre space.  That is the magic and illusion of theatre.
Shows started on the 15th and finished on the 29th.  Avignon really has become a second home for us for the month of July.  We stay in the same apartment which we have been staying for the last 15 years.  Everyone says that they all know the festival is starting when they see us there.  We have become an integral part of it.

At midnight on the 29th, we started our strike out.  In a couple hours the theatre had turned back into a conference room.  All our boards and curtains were packed up and stored in the Hotel Mercure once again.

Jorg & I left for Stuttgart on sunday to visit his parents for a day or 2.  And now we are on our way back to Adelaide.  No time to rest.  Many things are waiting for us back in Adelaide.  And the most exciting thing is our house in Gumeracha.  It isn't quite totally done yet but ......

Back in rainy cold wet Adelaide.  Gumeracha looks fantastic but muddy and windy and cold and wet.  But the house looks incredible.  I can't wait to move in.  I'm sure Rob will be glad when he's done with it.  I'm sure he has never had such a wet, cold, windy, muddy, rainy, etc etc etc weather to work in.
But the trees are happy and greeen.  The little finches are chirping merrily and the snake has quietly gone into hibernation somewhere.  (As long as it isn't in our swimming pool.)
The kangaroos do not like the noise of the generator so now they are down in the valley instead of in our car port.  I hope we can befriend them.
Jorg & I are jetlagged but always find time to go up to see the progress.
I have now started to prepare and programme for Adelaide.  Things really go non-stop.  One festival finishes only to have the next one waiting for you.  I have an exciting show which I will be doing.  Something new and something special. . . . very special and lots of fun!

But before that do come to Tokyo in October.  I shall be doing "Classique Nu" from October 20-23 at my intimate Shakti Studio.  A show not to be missed.  Reservations are essential.

And after the show we can catch up with a glass of wine.
